Governance & Administration.
The governing authority of T.E.F.I. is the Board of Directors. The Board consists of at
least three or at most seven members. The roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors is as follows:
1. On an annual basis, the Board review written policies and regulations, establishing and approving those required by licensing and accrediting bodies. The Board of Directors must review revisions to the policies.
2. The Board review and approve the annual organizational budget. The Board will review and approve an annual independent fiscal audit.
3. The Board ensures that the hours of operation of services in the school accommodate the needs of students and families being served.
4. The Board ensures that all services are provided in accordance with the non- discrimination provision of applicable laws. The Board set goals for each fiscal year and monitor the performance of staff in achieving these annual goals.
5. The Board is responsible for leading the organization in its fund-raising efforts and individually contributing at least $2000.00 per year to the school fund. These contributions could be in cash or kind.
6. The President presides over all meetings of the Board of Directors. The Secretary of the Board is responsible for notification of meetings and record and maintain the minutes and legal documents for the corporation.
7. Each board member serves for a term of two years. The Board of Directors may fill any vacancy at the time the vacancy occurs or they can be elected at the Annual Meeting to complete the un-expired term of a Board member who has resigned before completing his or her term of office.
8. The members of the Board of Directors are provided a formal orientation, with the support and assistance of the founder and other seasoned board members serving in same capacities in other international organizations. The orientation includes the structure, goals, objectives and methods of operation of the organization as a whole.
9. A Board manual and a copy of the personnel practices and procedures are given to each Board member.
10. In order to keep the Board members educated and informed about the services offered through the T.E.F.I., the different coordinators of the seven centers, will make quarterly presentations at Board meetings. Board members will also receive ongoing reports from Finance and Quality Assurance to provide information on the efficacy of the organization, including areas that need improvement.
